Getting here
About a kilometre west of the Johannesburg CBD, on the edge of Fordsburg. If you're coming off the M1 or the M2, exit for the city centre and head west — the centre occupies a full block and is hard to miss.
The Plaza has four entrances. Tap one for directions straight to that door.
Plenty of surface parking runs along all four sides of the complex, so there's always a bay close to whichever section you're headed for.
Vision Tactical guards patrol the centre and its parking areas throughout the day, with armed backup on call. It's a safe, well looked-after place to park and to shop.
Fordsburg is walkable from the city centre and served by minibus taxi routes and Rea Vaya stops nearby.
The North Mall is single-storey and flat. South Mall has an upper and a lower level, and the Grand Bazaar three; lifts are marked on the centre plan. Check with the management office on 011 838 6752 for lift access before you travel.
Hours shift around Ramadan, the festive season and public holidays. Follow Instagram or Facebook for the latest events and confirmed trading times.
Once you're inside
Two open-air blocks with a three-storey circular building between them. Every trader will give you directions as a shop number, so it's worth knowing which letter you're standing in.
North sectionSingle-storey, open to the sky. Curtaining, menswear, leather and bag shops cluster here.
Grand BazaarThe three-storey circular building in the middle. Bridal, jewellery, crockery and kidswear.
South sectionThe largest run of shops, over an upper and a lower level. Fabric, fashion, spice, footwear and most of the food.
Walkway kiosksSmall freestanding stalls between the blocks — cellular, bedding, sweets.
Every shop unit, floor by floor. Tap the plan to open it full size, or explore the 3D centre plan → to find any shop, entrance, lift or toilet.
